How do people make bento food without spoiling?

i know that bento food is a packed lunch and all that but the food is usually cooked. how does it not spoil in between prepareing it and eating it. for example if I prepare the food the night before do I put it in the fridge and leave it there over night and take it out in the morning to eat for lunch? im confused, encluding with the rice. How do people make bento food without spoiling?
The foods that they use are ones that don't spoil fast. Like various pickled foods. Rice is fine if left out for awhile. Actually the way the Japanese cook rice it never hits the fridge. It stays in the rice cooker on warm until it's either all eaten or starts turning pink, a sign that it's gone bad.

They also use lettuce as a decoration and a way to help keep obento cool.

There are some bento boxes that have a hidden ice pack or they have a hallow core which has a liquid in it that when frozen keeps the lunch cool, but it's basically the types of foods they pack.

Plus there are rules for being out in the heat and not leaving your food out in the sun :)How do people make bento food without spoiling?
haha yes i love bento food!! Yes, you can leave it in the fridge for a couple days- it really depends what it is. If you make anything deep fried I wouldn't leave it longer- where the pickles and stuff would probably last 1 week. Leave the dishes in the fridge in separate containers- then get the bento box out, heat, and serve! Or do like me- go to a restaurant!
