What exactly is Bento, and what's the best way to describe how it tastes?

My friend mentioned it on her face book and I have never really heard of it.What exactly is Bento, and what's the best way to describe how it tastes?
Bento is just really a Japanese style lunchbox. It's basically a large bowl with separated compartments for different foods %26amp; such. Or it could be just a stacked style box with any kind of food. It could be anything you want food-wise, but traditionally it's very kawaii. There are tons of different things like rice molds %26amp; tiny condiment holders to make your bento even more cute. If you google "bento" under images, you should get a good idea of what I mean. There are even a lot of blogs devoted to just showing off what your bento looked like for the day. What exactly is Bento, and what's the best way to describe how it tastes?
Bento is just a lunch box. They can be pretty much anything you want but they usually have rice. Hi no maru bento (Japanese flag bento) is basically white rice (sometimes sushi rice) with an umeboshi (pickled plum) right in the middle to resemble a Japanese flag.
If you ever go to Japan, you will probably travel by train. A lot of stations have Ekiben (station bento) in which they put regional foods. Some of the boxes are really cool and worth keeping as a souvenir. What exactly is Bento, and what's the best way to describe how it tastes?
Bento (弁当, bentō?)[1] is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine. A traditional bento consists of rice, fish or meat, and one or more pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in a box-shaped container.
