and what should i put in the bento|||You can buy bento boxes in a local Asian supermarket or in China Town. If you can't find either places, search on the internet-eBay always has at least one bento box seller :)
Bento boxes are usually filled with 3 maint things: steamed rice, vegetables, and a serving of meat or fish. Sometimes, they can be used to carry Sushi, as well.|||For a bento box, there's usually rice, a vegetable and a meat I believe.
I'm not 100% sure though.
If you have a local Japanese market in the area (we have a bunch here), they probably sell the boxes.
But yeah.
There's usually rice, a veggie, and something like chicken or a seafood.|||Many of my friends have bought bento boxes at asian stores, but I think that would depend on where you live. If you cannot find any in your asian store, I would suggest getting one off of the internet. :/
As for what you should put in it, a must is rice, since rice is a required dish in a traditional japanese meal. Most of the time there will be a salad or some kind of vegetable (you can look online for simple recipes for this, too), and then there's usually a meat.
A fun thing to try out would be the cute little octopus hotdogs, which are hotdogs that look like octopus. They are simple to make and so cute! All you have to do is split the bottom of the hotdog into four slices and let the hotdog sit on the splits, and there you have it!
That's about all I have...I hoped this helped you!|||You can buy bento boxes on eBay or J-Box. I think Asian Food Grocer stocks bentos sometimes too.
You can put whatever you want in your bento. It's not like it's illegal to put non-Japanese food in a bento box, after all. But if you want some Japanese recipes I'm sure you can find a bunch by Googling.
