I'm trying to be healthier, so this is all in the name of healthiness. Plus... bentos are WAY more delicious than school lunch.
My Bento usually contains: Veggie stir fry, onigiri, strawberries, carrots, and (occasionally) a cookieHesitant to bring Bento to my new school?
I grew up with a lot of asian people at school, so I understand where you're coming from. You feel like you don't want to insult them, or that they will think you are a wannabe.
A lot of them tend to keep to themselves and stay in their own inner circles. If you try to make friends with them, they would probably accept you faster because of the bentos.
Show them that you know what bentos are all about, and if you can prove your bento box skills they will definitely embrace your friendship.Hesitant to bring Bento to my new school?
I think if you want to bring it to school, then you should. If someone asks you about it or says something about it, explain why you have it. I brought a Bento to school for the last semester and a half, and only a couple people said anything. (And those were the idiots XD)
Short version? Screw other people. If you're bringing it for taste and health reasons, then you can honestly refute anything they throw at you.Hesitant to bring Bento to my new school?
It's up to you to decide what you want to eat.
I can tell you all through my like others have turned their noses up or have commented on my foods, even if it just a simple sandwich with a filling they haven't tried, or similar to what I like..
Bento is 2 things which can be confusing.
a) It is a container with food in. (another name for a lunchbox)
b) It is a style of the food content.
If you read this you will see there isn't anything unusual, apart from some of the items

I guess you will just have to eat white people food if you want to make everyone else happy. Personally I would not give a darn what anyone else thought of my lunch.
Asians aren't going to be offended. Bentos are cool. It might even catch on in your school!
