Anyone make bento boxes the night before?

On the bento sites I've been on they all talk about making your bento box in the morning, but me not being a morning person, makes them the night before. Does this really matter? I normally heat then up at work if I pack something that tastes better warm , and I have a fridge at work. So ya how important is the morning thing.Anyone make bento boxes the night before?
I usually make it the night before, for convenience, and because I like to sleep as late as possible.

I suppose food might taste slightly fresher if you got up really early in the morning to prepare it, but that hasn't been a problem for me. Whatever I add to the bento box the night before still tastes great at lunch the next day.Anyone make bento boxes the night before?
It's ok that you make lunch a night before if you are going to put your bento box in a fridge at your work. Lots of Japanese students who can't put their lunch in a fridge at school need to have their food as fresh as possible so the food doesn't go bad. That's why, their mother make lunch in the morning by getting up 5 a.m. But actually lots of Japanese people make lunch a night before these days and heat it up in the morning before putting the food in a box. By heating it up, the food gets warm and it won't go bad.

By the way, for Japanese people, the traditional image of getting up in the morning is that a father, sons, daughters are up and they see their mother cooking breakfast and always it's good to hear the sound of their mother cutting something on a cutting board and they smell miso soup. It always has the good impression of mothers getting up so early and taking care of their family by cooking a meal in the morning and that includes lunch, also. But, these day, many people don't really follow the traditional image. Mothers want to get more sleep so they don't get up 5 any more. Besides, some of them don't even cook lunch for their kids and they just give their kids money to buy lunch for themselves. And in Japan, usually giving kids money to buy lunch for themselves doesn't really have good image. But it shows negligence a bit. So the ideal things for their mother to do is to get up early for their family and cook delicious breakfast and lunch for them. That's one of the hidden meanings of making lunch in the morning, I think.Anyone make bento boxes the night before?
You can make it the night before. If you have rice in there, add a few drops of water before you warm it up in the microwave so it doesn't turn into warm, icky, hard rice (as opposed to cold, icky, hard rice). And make sure you pack any cold items separately, the stuff that doesn't need to be heated, so they aren't heated with the rest of the bento.

btw, warm food goes bad faster because it's in the danger zone (40-140F) when bacteria are most active. Food keeps better either colder or warmer than this temp range. Making the bento at night, then keep it refrigerated until you warm it up for eating is safer for you and will help to prevent giving yourself food poisoning.
