A bento box can contain a variety of snack type foods in Japan. You can get some sushi in one section, some sashimi in another section and some endame (soya beans) in another section and maybe a salad in another section. Japanese can eat cold soba noodles in dressing for breakfast and a variety of dried fruits or rice porridge. Chinese can also eat congee for breakfast which is a sort of savoury rice soup with egg and other flavourings in it.What is usually in a bento box? and what do the Japanese and Chinese usually eat for breakfast?
I haven't the faintest idea what the Japanese eat for breakfast. Japan and China are two very different countries and cultures.

In neither country, does everyone eat the same thing.

Chinese people eat different things for breakfast depending where in China they are. In the north, probably steamed bread. In the south probably rice noodles. Everywhere stuffed buns. Fried dough sticks and soy milk.

i can answer the breakfast bit for china...

it varies depending on region, some areas are more likely to have a simple kind of noodle,in other places rice porridge is the main thing eaten, accompanied by some little pickled vegetables for flavour (cause its pretty bland)

meat dumplings (jiaozi) are also eaten frequently, when my friends are i were having breakfast on the run we'd grab a bag of these from a vendor

There is also hot soya milk...and a kind of fried dough stick which i cant for the life of me remember the name of (is long and thin, and kind of crispy but soft). What is usually in a bento box? and what do the Japanese and Chinese usually eat for breakfast?
