Any ideas for cheap packed lunches or bento lunches?

We're poor, very poor, sending my boyfriend to work with a packed lunch would be far cheaper than what he spends on poor quality overpriced meals at the work canteen...but I don't want to just give him cheap dull ham sandwiches...

I'm looking for interesting, tasty and cute ideas for cheap food. And just because he's my boyfriend, don't worry, any ideas for kids packed lunches will work fine!

Macaroni is so cheap. Make him a big salad with lots of shredded carrot, diced celery, and thin slices of ham with mayo-sour cream dressing (can add a little catsup and relish to dressing, if desired). It is soooo good, cheap and extremely filling. Include a drink and some fresh grapes-sliced apples, etc and you have a healthy lunch and not just the usual sandwich.

Potato salad is good too. Potatoes are cheap and filling.Any ideas for cheap packed lunches or bento lunches?
hopefully they have a microwave..and food from home is always better and cheaper, so stock his bag with peanut better sandwiches, cracker's and peanut butter, fruit, such as an apple or oranges..veggies raw/cleaned, such as cerly \calflower/brocolli/carrots, with some ranch dressing..pudding and jello make a cake, and pack slices of that everyday until it's gone..fried egg sandwiches.
wraps. buy a thing of tortillas and you can put whatever in them. even left overs from the day before. very yummy, if you have a thermos you could make some oodles of noodles (romen noodles) and send those. very cheap like 33 cents a packages and they are really good if your drain most of the water out add some butter and shredded cheese. you can add in some veggies too to make it a more complete meal.Any ideas for cheap packed lunches or bento lunches?
buy a big jar of applesauce or cans of fruit and some cheep plastic containers send him some of one of those. Add crackers and cheese chips pretzels pita bread with hummus any favorite foods that are easy and quick.

Also please buy big sizes and break them down yourself the individual ones sold now are expensive.
Tuna salad. Buy cans of tuna, mix with some mayo and relish. Yum.

You could make pita pizzas for him to re-heat! Get pita bread, sauce, pepperoni, and cheese, and bake at 425 degrees until golden brown around the edges and the cheese is melted.Any ideas for cheap packed lunches or bento lunches?
